The fourth CAREM project partnership meeting took place in Palermo from the 3rd to 4th of July, 2014, project which was financed by the European Commission’s funds, within the Lifelong Learning Programme under the Comenius action. The partnership is composed by: University of Nicosia from Cyprus, Universal Learning System from Ireland, ESTA Bildungswerk from Germany, the Danilo Dolci Centre for Creative Development from Italy and Platon Schools from Greece.
Point of discussion for this meeting were the Work Package (WP) 2 on dissemination, the WP4 on providing educational materials to be used for the next training course, the WP6 on course for teachers and WP7 on the phase of piloting, implementation and revisions of the educational activities of the project. In particular, the partnership focused on the importance to implement dissemination, so to involve the most important policy makers in terms of relevance in order to promote this educational project.
Also, the partnership discussed about the training course and everybody agreed that the goal of this course is to make teachers aware that non-formal education, promoted by CAREM, not only reduces marginalization but it can increase the social inclusion of minorities within the elementary schools in a discriminatory social context. This is only possible if the content of the course will be based on the idea that Europe is not based on a solid and monolithic cultural identity, but, on the contrary it is based on a multicultural social context.
Next partnership meeting will take place in Cyprus, in October 2014.
