The kick-off meeting of the project COMMIT has been held last Wednesday, the 17th of June, unfortunately still online. Nevertheless, waiting to be able to meet in person soon, the project partners had the occasion to analyse in depth and plan the activities that will be carried out in the next two years in Italy, Austria, the Netherlands and Greece, in order to prevent the radicalisation of young people through the development and lunch of communication campaigns of alternative and counter-narrative.
The project is coordinated by Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo Danilo Dolci and will address 3 main topics: fake news, hate speech, populistic propaganda; right-/left-wing extremism; Islamic radicalism & terrorism.
We will implement capacity building programmes for university students of communication and journalism, media professionals and civil society organisations, to equip them with the right tools to address these delicate topics; and we will organise workshops with youngsters more susceptible to be attracted by extreme ideologies, to provide them with critical skills and media literacy.
Our work is supported by expert organisations across Europe and by the University of Palermo at local level.
COMMIT – COMMunication campaign against exTremism and radicalisation is funded by the Internal Security Fund – Police programme (ISFP-2018-AG-CT-CSEP).
