OCCAY, the Online Career Counselling Academy just started. The project is being implemented by 5 organizations, which joined efforts to promote online career guidance by improving the career counsellors’ digital competencies.
On 30 and 31 March the first meeting of OCCAY – Online Career Counselling Academy took place in Leutash (Austria). The project will provide educational and vocational counsellors and institutions with a practical and easy-to-use tool to assess digital competences for their counselling activities and to learn those contents and skills that they still lack. It will combine the necessary areas (communication, information, working tools, counselling tools) of educational and vocational counselling to be able to offer them a high quality, secure and professional digital platform.
The project partners met to discuss the processing of the online self-assessment platform that will soon be available for career counsellors, HR managers, directors and managers of vocational schools. This tool will provide the partnership with an accurate picture of their e-skills and thanks also to focus groups will allow the creation of an online course with a modular system based on the e-skills framework (DigComp 2.0) and 72 units in total.
In addition to the course, a strategy manual to establish a supportive, creative and safe working atmosphere in vocational schools, and a structured recommendation to encourage national decision-makers, financiers and funders towards a common European vocational education and training programme for virtual counselling will also be developed.
The project is financed by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union Erasmus + under Key Action 2, Cooperation partnerships in vocational education and training
