On the 23rd and 24th of November took place in the office premises of Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo Danilo Dolci in Palermo the first Transnational Meeting for the project Funmilies – Intergenerational Sport Solutions for Healthy Ageing.
The project, founded by Erasmus+ Programme for Sport, has started on January 2021 but, due to the pandemic, the meeting in Palermo was the first happened in presence. Thanks to this occasion, partners coming from Greece (ANCE), Slovenia (U3A), Hungary (BAIS), Bulgaria (ABS) and Italy (CSC) had the chance to discuss on progresses made and future plans.
Funmilies has the objective of integrating two different generations (youth under 25 and older people over 65) through sport activities. The project wants to contribute to the active ageing of over 65 European population and to the creation of contact zones between youth and older people in which both feel welcomed and part of the community.
The partnership has developed a research on a National and Europe level on sport as an intergenerational activity. The research, that will be soon available on Funmilies website, showed that youth and older people look at sports in the same way, as a recreational moment, as a source of wellbeing and a means for active participating in the community.
Based on the needs emerged during the research, the partners have developed also a course for sport coaches and instructors to train them on how to design and deploy intergenerational sport activities and on how to involve older people in a path for active ageing. During the meeting in Palermo, partners have found the best solutions on how to bring on board sport coaches and instructors also in the sporting events that will be organised next year.
Shortly, details on the training course and how to enroll will be published on this website and on CSC Facebook page. The course is devoted to sport coaches, trainers, and students of Sport Science.
