On 16 and 17 June, GROWE partners met in Cluj, Romania, to finalise the online course for teachers that will be available online from September. The course will be aimed at teachers who want to develop both linguistic-communicative and social-emotional skills in their students.
Thanks to the GROWE online course, teachers will learn how to use children’s literature texts not strictly related to their teaching subject, whatever that may be, with the aim of improving students’ skills in that subject.
Through videos and materials made by those who have already tested the GROWE methodology, teachers will learn more about the concepts of disciplinary literacy and social-emotional skills. In this way, they will learn how to integrate students in the classroom through metacognitive teaching, social teaching, text comprehension and writing strategies, cooperative learning and authentic texts. They will also learn the importance of formative assessment, the value of feedback and self and peer assessment.
With GROWE, students will learn about the different nuances of subject knowledge that can be generated through written language. In the process, they will continue with the development of their own subject-related skills.
GROWE wants to contribute to the task of making all citizens of Europe capable of reading and writing to the extent that they can act and develop in society, at home, at school and at work, and achieve their aspirations as individuals, family members, workers and citizens.
GROWE – GET READERS ON THE WAVELENGTH OF EMOTIONS is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme under Key Action 2, Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practice, Strategic partnerships in the field of school education.
