Discover the STAND training dedicated to digital literacy

Sep 8, 2022News

The existing inequalities in education have gotten worse due to the pandemic: 0.5 percent of all students worldwide dropped out of school in 2020. The education system has faced drastic changes shifting from the traditional learning to the e-learning modes.

The STAND project aims to equip teachers and school staff, as well as students and their families, with competences, tools and tailored support, supporting the digital transition of EU school systems and making them ready to face long-term challenges triggered by the pandemic.

For this reason, trainers and teachers met in Rzeszów – and online – for training dedicated to the MOOC (Massive Online Open Courses), developed on ICT (Information and Communications Technology) and digital literacy. During the training, participants gained all the knowledge and ideas needed for organizing the testing activities, which will start next year in schools.

Throughout the 3-day training, participants worked together on the digital literacy course to bridge the existing gap in digital preparedness in schools. In Rzeszów, the 9 participants worked together to identify any potential gaps in the content of 5 modules that will be within the MOOC.

During its journey, the STAND project will train teachers and staff from primary and lower secondary schools, through targeted ICT/digital support and new training opportunities to acquire digital competences and deal with distance learning, teaching and bureaucratic activities.

Furthermore, it will also respond to the need of students in the age 6-12 to have equal access to education online while being protected against future risks of social exclusion and other risks that are inherent to the virtual world.

Finally, the project also focuses on families, and their need for basic digital skills and tools in order to support their children in distance learning and homework.
