Educating community against educational deprivation: teachers start programming on DAPPERTUTTO


Which are the educational needs of a territory and the actions to fight effectively against social inequality and educational deprivation?

Teachers of Istituto Comprensivo Statale Ferrara and representatives of Centro Per lo Sviluppo Creativo Danilo Dolci met to talk about the project DAPPERTUTTO on June 20 2018, at the plexus of Ferrara Institute.

DAPPERTUTTO was born and developed based on the experiences of active participation already existing in the territory and thanks to an analysis of the educational needs of Tribunale/Kalsa district. The project also involved the teachers of the Istituto Amari Roncalli Ferrara, through questionnaires, interviews and focus group aimed at identifying the most appropriate interventions in the area and within the school.

The meeting was attended by the Coordinator of the project of Centro Per lo Sviluppo Creativo Danilo Dolci, the Director of the School Lucia Sorce and the teachers of kindergarten. The main aim was to start the first reflections necessary for the planning of activities, which will start from September 2018. The activities will involve the teachers of Institute personally along with other teachers and educators present in the area.

A fruitful confrontational space has been set up and participants discussed different themes. Discussion started from the aims of the project and went on with a detailed presentation of the training and workshops activities, and the extension and integration of 0-6 services tailored to teachers, children and families’ needs.

Among these themes, participants discussed about:

  • the intermediary function between school and territory, which will be carried out by the counselling and support desk and others activities;
  • the importance of parents’ role in the planning of activities for their children that affect family’s free time and children education as well;
  • how relevant a full awareness on the territory and its socio-cultural resources to achieve a valuable enrichment of didactic activities.

Starting from the suggestion, ideas and curiosities of the participants, it has emerged the important role that the teacher will play within the project.

The teachers will be both direct recipients of some sections of the project and essential actors, they will promote a new culture of childhood and they will be an important point of union for the consolidation of the educating community DAPPERTUTTO.

The coming months will be used in the programming of the activities on which we will keep you updated.
