\"LITSSTW_terzo-meeting\"<\/a>The third partner meeting of the Leonardo TOI project \u201cLanguage Interpreter Training as a Stepping Stone to Work\u201d was held in Athens, Greece, between 21st<\/sup> and 24th<\/sup> January 2014. During the meeting, the project partners (Dacorum Council for Voluntary Service – UK, Runi Center – Bulgaria, Iberika – Germany, Active Citizens Partnership \u2013 Greece, and Center for Creative Development \u2013 Italy) gathered to discuss about the results achieved and the next steps of the project. The partners addressed many issues, sharing comments on strengths and weaknesses of the first pilot course, and proposing new ideas for improvement.<\/p>\n

However, the main issue addressed concerned the delivery of the Second Interpreter Training Pilot Course. Building on the experience drawn from the First Pilot Course held last autumn, each partner organization in its country will deliver another training course aiming to enhance migrants\u2019 vocational skills and to help them exploit their language skills to access the labour market.<\/p>\n

In Italy, the second pilot course has started on February 25th,<\/sup> and it will be held in the office of the Center for Creative Development in Palermo for six weeks.<\/p>\n

The 36-hour course will include a theoretical part and a lot of interpreting practice. There will be some guest-speakers attending and an e-learning module enabling the participants to interact also out of the training session.<\/p>\n

The participants will have the opportunity to understand the fundamentals of the job of public service interpreting, to acquire some basic knowledge and to decide whether they are interested in going on with this career or not.<\/p>\n

The course involves 20 participants, working in small groups according to their mother tongue with the support of two trainers.<\/p>\n

After the end of the course, the participants will be given a certificate of attendance and will be asked for a feedback about the course.<\/p>\n
