{"id":10167,"date":"2017-12-06T15:23:26","date_gmt":"2017-12-06T14:23:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.danilodolci.org\/?p=3922"},"modified":"2019-02-25T13:58:19","modified_gmt":"2019-02-25T12:58:19","slug":"youth-work-violent-radicalisation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danilodolci.org\/en\/news\/youth-work-violent-radicalisation\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth Work Against Violent Radicalisation: the role of youth workers in preventing violence among youth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3923 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/en.danilodolci.org\/media\/sites\/5\/youth-work-violent-radicalisation-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Youth Work Against Violent Radicalisation: the role of youth workers in preventing violence among youth \" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/>Violent radicalisation among young people <\/strong>has become a <strong>growing issue of concern in\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Europe<\/strong> and its neighbouring regions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Youth work<\/strong> has a very important <strong>role to play<\/strong> <strong>in the prevention of violent radicalisation<\/strong>,\u00a0supporting and <strong>empowering young people<\/strong> to deal with challenges they face and\u00a0strengthening their <strong>resilience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Youth workers work on the development of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>young people\u2019s life skills,<\/li>\n<li>critical thinking,<\/li>\n<li>inter-cultural competences, active citizenship, promotion of diversity, and common values of freedom and tolerance through non-formal and informal learning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Organized by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salto-youth.net\/\">SALTO Youth<\/a> in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/youth\/success-stories\/youth-in-action_en\">Erasmus+ Youth in Action<\/a> programme\u2019s national agencies and the EU-CoE partnership, the <strong>international conference<\/strong> <strong><em>Youth Work Against Violent Radicalisation<\/em><\/strong> took place in Malta between the <strong>28<sup>th<\/sup> and 30<sup>th<\/sup> November<\/strong>. The event gathered more than 100 participants from Europe and the neighbourhood.<\/p>\n<p>The conference represented for its participants a precious opportunity to <strong>explore together the role of youth work in preventing the radicalisation leading to violence phenomenon among youth<\/strong>, and to fruitfully <strong>exchange experiences and practices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The first day was dedicated to the definition of terms relevant to the study of the radicalisation phenomenon and to the presentation of the results of the research previously carried out by <strong>Miguel Angel Garcia Lopez<\/strong> and <strong>Lana Pasic<\/strong> on the role of youth work in its prevention.<\/p>\n<p>During the second day, participants had the chance to deepen their insights on themes such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the individual and collective components of the radicalisation process,<\/li>\n<li>risk and protection factors,<\/li>\n<li>the role of education preventing the phenomenon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Moreover, thanks to dedicated <strong>workshops<\/strong>, some participants had the opportunity to enrich the exchange by <strong>sharing some related good practices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On the last day of the conference, the focus was set on <strong>follow-up opportunities and possibilities<\/strong> within Erasmus+, ENI and other programmes, and on the sharing of <strong>new project ideas<\/strong> among participants, with a view to possible future cooperation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo &#8220;Danilo Dolci&#8221;<\/strong> is working successfully in preventing radicalism through <strong>two projects<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.danilodolci.org\/project\/start-the-change\/\">START THE CHANGE<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/danilodolci.org\/project\/salaam\/\">SALAAM<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This experience enriched us with new stimuli, ideas, knowledge, in order to deepen and improve cooperation on a European and Euro-Mediterranean level on the prevention of youth radicalisation leading to violence.<\/p>\n<p>For further information about the conference, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salto-youth.net\/\">salto-youth.net<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The international conference Youth Work Against Violent Radicalisation took place in Malta between the 28th and 30th November.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":23,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[214],"tags":[],"recensione":[],"target":[],"tema-centenario":[],"class_list":["post-10167","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.6 (Yoast SEO v28.4) -
