{"id":10186,"date":"2018-05-31T15:55:35","date_gmt":"2018-05-31T13:55:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.danilodolci.org\/?p=4107"},"modified":"2022-03-13T11:48:24","modified_gmt":"2022-03-13T10:48:24","slug":"new-chapter-classroom-hate-speech-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danilodolci.org\/en\/news\/new-chapter-classroom-hate-speech-online\/","title":{"rendered":"New Chapter: Classroom Activities to fight against hate speech online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4119 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/en.danilodolci.org\/media\/sites\/5\/new-chapter-workshop-hate-speech-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"New Chapter: Classroom Activities to fight against hate speech online\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/>How to\u00a0<strong>face hate speech<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>promote critical thinking<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>How to favor\u00a0<strong>human rights among young people<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>Students of\u00a0 \u201cDuca Abruzzi\u201d High School of Palermo participated in two workshops \u00a07th and 16th May 2018, within the framework of the project <strong>NEw CHapter &#8211;\u00a0 NEtwork of Cooperation against Hate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>All the activities involved students aged from 14 to 16 years old.<\/p>\n<p>We used\u00a0<strong>non-formal methods<\/strong> to help participant\u00a0<strong>interact, develop new skills, share knowledge, experiences, opinions, and values<\/strong> about human rights, discrimination and how to <strong>contrast hate speech<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The main purpose of the activities was actively involve students to provide education on the values of <strong>active citizenship and respect for human rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We presented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nohatespeechmovement.org\/\">No Hate Speech Movement<\/a> to <strong>promote freedom of expression online by providing a safe space for people to express themselves <\/strong>free from fear of hate speech. The campaign seeks to <strong>decrease the levels of acceptance of hate speech<\/strong>, online and offline.
