{"id":10660,"date":"2011-04-04T13:21:10","date_gmt":"2011-04-04T11:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danilodolci.org\/?p=171"},"modified":"2011-04-04T13:21:10","modified_gmt":"2011-04-04T11:21:10","slug":"ups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danilodolci.org\/en\/integration\/ups\/","title":{"rendered":"[English] UPS \u2013 Unused Potentials of Senior Migrants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-174 alignleft\" title=\"senior migrants\" src=\"https:\/\/danilodolci.org\/media\/senior-migrants-300x178.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>Grundtvig Multilaterale Project<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Unused Potentials of Senior Migrants \/ Experts for Life<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Duration: 01.10.2010 &#8211; 30.09.2012<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Elderly migrants become senior migrants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The project UPS \u2013 Unused Potentials of Senior Migrants \/ Experts for Life \u2013 aims at addressing, selecting and qualifying senior migrants for their future field of activity and the development of a self-help manual.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Non-natives and migrants have to get along in a new world, in a different society, in a different milieu. Familiar models of mutual help, mutual support, e.g. in the families, in the neigh-borhood, in the circle of friends, can no longer be lived and are in danger of being lost. On the one hand elderly migrants feel useless and suffer from social isolation, their talents and competences are not used, being willing to face up to new tasks. On the other hand many migrants need help urgently, preferring to get help from their own culture group rather than from \u201cstrangers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">UPS addresses elderly migrants, \u201cexperts for life\u201d of different migrant milieus, taking over the bridging function to migrants of the specific milieus that need help in diverse areas of their lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">These elderly migrants are addressed and selected with the help of a custom-made selection procedure. Contemporaneous to the selection procedure an innovative training program to qualify senior migrants is developed. A guide containing the employed methodic-didactic concepts will be written, being spread all over Europe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The qualified senior migrants will do social networking in the partner countries, amongst other things via cooperation with migrant\u2019s self-organizations, local authorities, integration agencies and charity. The target is to get direct access to migrants needing help and to disseminate the concept of UPS.
