The project HERo \u00a0\u2013 New narratives towards a gender equal society<\/strong> \u2013 is \u00a0very up and running and reaching great steps: \u00a0implemented by the Public Association \u201cSocial Technologies Agency\u201d (Kyrgyz Republic) and the Center for Creative Development \u201cDanilo Dolci\u201d (Italy) with financial support from the European Union for 36 months, from 2019 to 2022 (EuropeAid \u2013 Country Based Support Scheme for Kyrgyzstan 2018 \u2013 2019), it has now reached its second year of implementation with worth sharing results.<\/p>\n

During the very first month of the project, a Transversal National Board has been established and it is composed by representatives of each of the six target group of the project:\u00a0 employees of state bodies responsible for gender issues; CSOs on human rights, NGOs working on gender issues; religious organizations, clergy; experts in the field of education; media; civil servants \/ employees of local authorities. The aim for its existence and involvement of such categories of people from the Kyrgyz society and government was to promote, all along the duration of the project, transversal & national-local cooperation to ensure a gender-responsive governance, with the general objective of ensuring the proper implementation of gender policies at long term perspective..<\/p>\n

Recently, the representatives of the Board have been involved in four envisaged focus groups, in order to discuss and define the needs in the country on the gender equality issues and to tailor the upcoming capacity building trainings that are about to take place on four topics: media, education system, public institutions and Civil Society Organizations.<\/p>\n

The trainings are about to start and will be the core of the project: all the results and achievements will be shared and a great impact is expected at different level of the society, thanks to the priority areas the projects is focusing on, such as supporting the development of a stereotype \u2013 free education through the increase of the gender competences of educators in the Kyrgyz Republic; increasing the gender \u2013 sensitive media standards (especially in journalism); supporting gender policy collaboration to prevent gender discrimination and violence by strengthening the response on the governmental level and on the civil society level.<\/p>\n

Lastly, it is also worth mentioning the participation of the external evaluator in the Mid-term meeting in October, who joined the partnership and gave his important inputs to the future development of the project in the best way.<\/p>\n
