As part of the GROWE project<\/a><\/strong>, a meeting was held on 3rd<\/sup> and 4th<\/sup> of November in Vilnius (Lithuania) to finalise the course that is available online for teachers who wish to develop both linguistic-communicative<\/strong> and socio-emotional skills<\/strong> in their students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the online toolkit<\/strong>, available on the project website<\/a><\/strong>, teachers not only of Italian or English - or of those subjects of which is more common to find literature books alongside textbooks - but also of science, mathematics or history, will learn how to use children's literature texts related to their subject, to improve students' skills in that discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By means of videos and other materials of teachers who have already experimented with the GROWE methodology, they will deepen their understanding of the concepts of disciplinary literacy<\/strong> and social-emotional skills<\/strong>, learning how to integrate them in the classroom<\/strong> through metacognitive teaching, social teaching, text comprehension and writing strategies, cooperative learning and authentic texts. They will also learn the importance of formative<\/strong> assessment<\/strong>, the value of feedback and self and peer assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With GROWE, students will learn about the different nuances of subject knowledge through the discipline\u2019s specific vocabulary used in narrative books. In the process, they will continue with the development of their own subject-related skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

GROWE wants to contribute to the task of making all citizens of Europe capable of reading and writing to the extent that they can act and develop in society, at home, at school and at work, and achieve their aspirations as individuals, family members, workers and citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GROWE aims to develop teacher trainers\u2019 and subsequently teachers\u2019 competences to address students\u2019 literacy and emotional learning needs<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
