To improve digital and transversal skills in rural areas, the provision of customised training courses that considers specific local needs, using a teaching approach that combines theory and practice, is very significant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This has been the primary activity in the last months of the implementation of Our Digital Village<\/a><\/strong>, which is carrying out educational courses for teachers and trainers in the rural areas of seven European countries. The courses topic is the use of advanced technologies such as robotics, microcontrollers, web development, coding and 3D printing,<\/strong> to learn both the fundamentals of these technologies from a theoretical point of view and also how to use them to create educational activities that can be applied to school and educational contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training course in Italy, offered by the Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo \"Danilo Dolci\"<\/a><\/strong> in collaboration with Fablab and based on the training materials co-created with the community, is taking place in the rural area of Salemi, and includes participants from the surrounding area. Several face-to-face training sessions were organised, each one with a specific topic in order to address each technology individually. Each session was designed to be hands-on and participatory, and to enable participants to immediately put into practice what they learned in a collaborative learning environment.<\/strong> In addition, further online meetings and access to additional resources and learning materials will be provided to ensure ongoing support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, further online meetings and access to additional resources and learning materials will be provided to ensure ongoing support<\/strong>. This initial training will serve to provide the foundation of knowledge about these technologies, which will be consolidated in a second, subsequent phase during the trainings that will be offered to the entire community, which will deal in more detail with each technology, especially from a practical point of view. Starting in October 2024, ICT courses on the aforementioned technologies will be offered to school-age students as well as adult learners who will be able to explore robotics, microcontrollers, web development, coding and 3D printing applied to the rural context.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through all these training activities, the Our Digital Village project aims to bridge the digital divide in rural areas, providing a valuable opportunity for rural residents to acquire advanced technological skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OUR DIGITAL VILLAGE \u2013 CO-DESIGNED DIGITAL EDUCATION IN RURAL AREAS<\/strong><\/a> is a project financed by the Erasmus + program (Key Action 2: Forward-Looking Projects) and aims to promote a process of community self-analysis in rural areas through Reciprocal Maieutic Approach, to identify the needs of the rural contexts and co-create educational materials for the strengthening of digital and transversal skills.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
