{"id":3868,"date":"2017-10-31T10:19:09","date_gmt":"2017-10-31T09:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.danilodolci.org\/?p=3868"},"modified":"2019-02-25T13:46:53","modified_gmt":"2019-02-25T12:46:53","slug":"robin-inclusion-migrants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danilodolci.org\/en\/news\/robin-inclusion-migrants\/","title":{"rendered":"INCLUSIVE EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN ON THE MOVE: ROBIN PROJECT AND ITS FINAL RESULTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3869\" src=\"https:\/\/en.danilodolci.org\/media\/sites\/5\/robin-inclusion-migrants-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Inclusive education for children on the move: ROBIN project and its final results\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" \/>More than <strong>600 educators trainer in 5 countries<\/strong>, a manual with 9 training modules and more than <strong>40 useful activities<\/strong> to strengthen the competences of teachers, <strong>educators and operators working with minors with migrant background<\/strong>: these are the final results of the project <a href=\"https:\/\/en.danilodolci.org\/project\/robin\/\">ROBIN<\/a>, which have been presented during the <strong>final conference<\/strong> held in <strong>Wien<\/strong> on <strong>October 19<sup>th<\/sup> 2017<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Two years of intensive and productive work have involved partners <strong>from Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Romania and Austria<\/strong>, who have been committed at local level for the <strong>inclusion of <em>children on the move<\/em><\/strong> in the <strong>educational system<\/strong> and in general in <strong>society<\/strong>, <strong>preventing<\/strong> their <strong>early school leaving<\/strong>, through the development of a <strong>new<\/strong> <strong>learning<\/strong> <strong>methodology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration in ROBIN was initiated by <em><a href=\"http:\/\/tdh.ro\/\">Terre des hommes Romania<\/a><\/em> which advocates children on the move and children with migrant backgrounds in danger to fail integration and abandon their education. <strong>Obtaining minimum qualifications prevents children on the move from vulnerability, exposition to abuse, exploitation and trafficking.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the recommendations in the <strong>UNICEF report<\/strong> <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/romania\/media_14492.html\">Early school dropout: causes and possible ways to prevent it<\/a><\/em> (2009), the <strong>flexibility of the second chance curricula<\/strong> should be increased including <strong>extra-curricular activities<\/strong>, such as <strong>sport and artistic<\/strong> <strong>activities and inclusion projects<\/strong> that aim at <strong>lowering the marginalisation<\/strong> of children with migrant background.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure that children with a migrant background complete school education ROBIN has equipped more <strong>than 600 of teaching staff involved in programmes of second chance<\/strong> with tools that extend the capabilities of specific support for their target, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a deep <strong>research on the state of art<\/strong> in the 5 partners\u2019 countries;<\/li>\n<li>a <strong>need analysis at local level <\/strong>which involved more than <strong>350<\/strong> between <strong>teachers, educators, social workers, experts, policy makers and other stakeholder<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>a <strong>learning methodology<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>a <strong>final handbook<\/strong> which have been tested and implemented in <strong>5 training cycles of 3 days<\/strong> each in every partner country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now the final handbook is ready to be downloaded, read and used to support teaching staff working with young migrants at risk of drop out and early school leaving.
