{"id":4293,"date":"2018-11-06T16:47:40","date_gmt":"2018-11-06T15:47:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.danilodolci.org\/?p=4293"},"modified":"2022-03-13T11:48:25","modified_gmt":"2022-03-13T10:48:25","slug":"new-chapter-classroom-activities-fight-hate-speech-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danilodolci.org\/en\/news\/new-chapter-classroom-activities-fight-hate-speech-online\/","title":{"rendered":"New Chapter: Classroom Activities to fight against hate speech online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4295\" src=\"https:\/\/danilodolci.org\/media\/new-chapter-classroom-activities-fight-hate-speech-online.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"533\" \/>How to\u00a0<strong>face hate speech<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>promote critical thinking<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>Students of the \u201cPietro Piazza\u201d High School of Palermo within the framework of the project \u201c<strong>New Chapter &#8211;\u00a0 NEtwork of Cooperation against Hate<\/strong>\u201d, implemented a workshops \u00a030th October 2018, which was designed by <strong>Center for the Development and Creativity Danilo Dolci.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We presented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nohatespeechmovement.org\/\">No Hate Speech Movement<\/a> to <strong>promote freedom of expression online by providing a safe space for people to express themselves <\/strong>free from fear of hate speech. The campaign seeks to <strong>decrease the levels of acceptance of hate speech<\/strong>, online and offline. It combats hate speech in all forms, including those that most affect young people, such as <strong>cyber-hate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In order to make the project more successful and to address the issue of freedom of expression, we have used the methodology of Danilo Dolci\u2019s Reciprocal Maieutic Approach. The Reciprocal Maieutic Approach (RMA) is a dialectic method of inquiry and &#8220;popular self-analysis&#8221; for empowerment of communities and individuals and it can be defined as a \u201cprocess of\u00a0collective exploration that takes, as a departure point, the experience\u00a0and the intuition of individuals\u201d. As the name says, RMA is a \u201creciprocal\u201d process between at least two persons and it is normally done inside a group, with one person that asking questions and others giving answers. It is the reciprocal maieutic communication that brings out people\u2019s knowledge, with all participants learning from each other.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Students sat in a circle<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Every student was asked:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is \u201cfreedom\u201d according to your personal experience?
