Many students and teachers coming from different schools of Palermo took part in the event, including the classical high school \u201cVittorio Emanuele II\u201d, and two schools from Partinico (a town close to Palermo): the institute I.C. &#8220;Cassar\u00e0-Guida&#8221; and I.S. &#8220;O.M. Corbino&#8221;. Also, the scientific high school &#8220;Ernesto Basile&#8221;, Classical high school &#8220;S. It tries to solve the <strong>problem of radicalization<\/strong> through\ninternational cooperation among diversified social groups, addressing the\nissues of tolerance, nonviolence, peaceful conflict resolution, peace building,\ndiversity and human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nOne way of achieving this goal is through <strong>art<\/strong>.\nFor this reason, the students participating in the &#8220;Paint the world with\ndiversity&#8221; contest showed their creative talent and created wonderful art\npieces. The result is a collection of very different approaches to the theme of\n<strong>social inclusion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nAfter the presentation of the project\u2019s results and the screening of parts of\nthe documentary, the students had the <strong>opportunity\nto present their work<\/strong>, the techniques used and the message they wanted to\ncommunicate. A very special presentation was given by Marsilio, who presented\nhis rap song in a live version during the presentations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The presentations were followed by the\nofficial award ceremony in which the prices were given to the winners of the\ncontest: <strong>Martina<\/strong> won the third place\nwith the video \u201cBeyond the wall\u201d, in which she urges everyone not to stop at the\nway things look on the surface in order to be able to overcome the barriers of\nprejudices. <strong>Oluwaobi and Federica<\/strong>, who\nwon the second place, have created together a comic strip entitled \u201cDon\u2019t do it\u201d,\nwith the goal of making readers aware of inclusion, support and acceptance. <strong>Marsilio<\/strong> won the first place with the\nrap song he wrote: \u201cA lot of pages\u201d. The aim of the song \u2013 Marsilio explains &#8211;\nis to communicate a message of positivity and equality between social classes\nand people from different countries and cities (&#8230;) the lyrics say \u201cwe all\nwork together like in an anthill\u201d to improve our world that nowadays looks down\non diversity\u201d. Finally, <strong>Noemi<\/strong>\nreceived an honorable mention for her drawing named \u201cDifferent but equal\u201d,\nreminding that even if each of us is unique and diverse, at the end of the day\nwe are all equal as we all belong to the human race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nThe event showed the desire and participation of young people and teachers to\ntackle such complex and current issues, and the <strong>desire to fight against all forms of discrimination and violence<\/strong>,\nin favor of a more creative and diversified world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.danilodolci.org\/project\/start-the-change\/\">START THE CHANGE&nbsp;<\/a>is funded under the&nbsp;<strong>Erasmus+ &nbsp;Key Action 3: Support for Policy Reform<\/strong>&nbsp;and aims to fight the radicalization among young people, a process that starts as soon as in the primary and secondary schools. In order to deal with this issue, START THE CHANGE organized a large-scale coordinated action with the participation of 40 schools, 110 teachers, and 2000 youngsters across 4 European countries.
