Rossi<\/p>\n Book presentation: Danilo Dolci. A non-violent revolution. The life and work of a man of peace by Giuseppe Barone (published by Altraeconomia, 2010).<\/p>\n Danilo Dolci, born in Trieste, was a key figure of Twentieth-century Italy: a social and political animator but above all one of the principal promoters of non-violence in our country. In the 50s Dolci moved to Trappeto and Partinico area in Sicily and promoted the idea of non-violent struggle against mafia, against hunger and against underdevelopment. His \u201cback to front\u201d strike in 1956, when hundreds of unemployed people pacifically put back into service an abandoned public road, is famous. He died in Trappeto in 1997. The book gives an account of the great wealth and complexity of Dolci\u2019s work. It retraces his biography, punctuated by arrests, trials, hunger strikes, and a huge output of thoughts, writing and the practice of non-violence in the struggle for bread. Today Danilo Dolci\u2019s work is carried on by many Italian groups that are inspired by his philosophy, including the Teatro Rebis of Macerata which is developing a drama project around the oblivion that surrounds him in collective imagination, but above all the Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo Danilo Dolci in Palermo that is animated by his sons among others.<\/p>\n 16th<\/sup> and 17th<\/sup> of May Reciprocal maieutic meetings<\/p>\n Aimed at Macerata teachers and conducted by Amico Dolci and Giuseppe Barone, in collaboration with \u201cMy school for peace\u201d by the Macerata council.<\/p>\n Centro per lo Sviluppo Danilo Dolci of Palermo has its origins in the social and educational work of Danilo Dolci and of his collaborators, which began in Western Sicily in 1952. It aimed at providing local communities with a framework that offered a pragmatic response to the problems posed by constant personal interaction. It developed and defined itself as a creative self \u2013 analytical open space rooted in axiological planning, dedicated to promoting economic and social development within the local area through maieutic cooperation. The conditions for real change as well as territorial development, in respect of local cultures, were created through nonviolent struggles, hunger strikes, peace marches, public accusations of local mafia and correlated nepotistic systems, \u201cback to front\u201d strikes, a free radio station, demonstrations and maieutic workshops involving thousands of people. Today Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo <\/strong>\u201cDanilo Dolci\u201d <\/strong>is a non \u2013 profit association involving both young people and adults. It has been active and successful for more than ten years, in cooperation with schools, universities, institutions, associations and civil society, both locally and internationally.<\/p>\n
