In line with EC recommendations, the goal of the Sustain project is to provide teachers with methodological support so that they may concieve training courses that transmit to students knowledge and capabilities that allow them to make informed choices, respectful of both society and the environment. The project offers new solutions that not only improve students\u2019 learning capabilities, but also support teacher training and educational interaction processes. The project will allow the four partner countries to share good practices from their respective educational contexts. The selected practices, along with teaching tools and training materials will be collected in an online platform and a database and will be made avaliable to primary school teachers. The project will build a network between teachers of the different partner countries and encourage interdisciplinary cooperation with the aim of improving educational dynamics and disseminating sustainable development issues within schools.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Programme:<\/strong> The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) \u2013 Lifelong Learning Programme \u2013 Comenius \u2013 Multilateral Project<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project duration:<\/strong> 01\/11\/2011- 31\/11\/2013<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing teachers with methodological support, teaching tools and good practices that allow them transmit to students knowledge and capabilities that permit them to make informed choices in a sustainable development perspective.<\/li>\n<li>Promote the acquisition of key skills that support education for sustainable development from an early age.<\/li>\n<li>Create an online network among teachers and promote multi- and interdisciplinary cooperation through the exchange of new ideas on the development of key skills in schools;<\/li>\n<li>Promote among teachers knowledge and skills relative to new ideas on sustainable development in education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Activities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Analysis of training needs within educational settings through interviews with 30 teachers from different kindergartens and primary schools in each partner country (January \u2013 February 2012).<\/li>\n<li>Two days of local training, aimed at primary and nursery school teachers. The seminars, in line with EU recommendations regarding education will include: the presentation of the model of basic skills teaching, as well as analysis, collection and sharing of methodological tools and best practices for sustainable development education (April 2012 );<\/li>\n<li>Support teachers in the experimentation of new tools learned in training;<\/li>\n<li>Development of a collaborative online platform for teachers, experts and project coordinators of the different partner countries;<\/li>\n<li>Development of an online database for the collection and compilation of good practices on education for sustainable development;<\/li>\n<li>A 5-day International Training course aimed at 3 primary school teachers from each partner country.
