Description of the project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As a result of the pandemic, around 7 million children dropped out of school (World Bank), resulting in disruptions which will negatively affect future learning if the long-term impacts of the pandemic are not mitigated, through the adoption of new strategies and supporting educational continuity for all children. Moreover, teachers and school staff still lack appropriate digital skills but also miss experience in creating digital teaching content, lessons and manage e-learning platforms, and 18% of teachers ask for further competence in ICT (The Impact of COVID-19 on education, OECD, 2020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a response, STAND aims at equipping teachers and school staff, as well as students and their families, with competences, tools and tailored support, supporting the digital transition of EU school systems and making them ready to face long-term challenges triggered by the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The STAND project will train teachers and staff from primary and lower secondary schools, through targeted ICT\/digital support and new training opportunities to acquire digital competences and deal with distance learning, teaching and bureaucratic activities; Furthermore, it will also respond to the need of students in the age 6-12 to have equal access to education (online) while being protected against future risks of social exclusion and other risks that are inherent to the virtual world. Finally, the project also focusses on families, and their need for basic digital skills and tools in order to support their children in distance learning and homework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
