In order to deal with this issue, START THE CHANGE will organize a large-scale coordinated action that foresees the participation of 40 schools, 110 teachers, and 2000 youngsters across 4 European countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project\u2019s lighting principle for action is to make marginalized youngsters feel heard and cultivate diversity and democratic values in the social threads, bearing in mind the fact that radicalization often results from deprivation and identity crisis fuelled by negative personal experiences and wishes for revenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project seeks to solve the problem by creating international cooperation among diversified social groups. The final objectives are to bring about changes in the way society handles diversity as a result of combined efforts in diverse fronts. Actions will consist of enhancing teachers\u2019 intercultural capacities and civic competences in order to teach controversial topics, to equip CSO staff with peace-building ideas in their youth work,&nbsp; and to change the perception at grassroots level with local diversity projects realized by youngsters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-activities\">Activities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Research on the most difficult and important intercultural topics with 40 focus groups and interviews.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development of training manual in 4 languages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exchange of best practices in educational and integration methods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>36 Peace-building projects in local communities conducted by 2000 young volunteers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capacity-building training session for 110 school teachers and volunteers in Diversity work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organization of the creative contest \u201cPaint the World with Diversity\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-results\">Results<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/danilodolci.org\/media\/STC-National-Report_Start-the-change-CSC_Danilo_Dolci.pdf\">Local research on the needs of youngsters in Palermo<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/startthechange.net\/media\/2018\/03\/research-report_dissemination_english_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Comparative research on the needs of youngsters in Italy, Croatia, Slovenia and UK<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cStart the change Toolkit\u201d consisting of:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/startthechange.net\/media\/2018\/03\/stc-manual-eng.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A manual for teachers on the theme of prevention of radicalization and other topics related to active citizenship. The English version<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/startthechange.net\/media\/2018\/04\/start-the-change_collection_en-2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A map with activities to do in the classroom.
