SHE-UNET: labor inclusion programmes for Ukrainian women

Aug 6, 2025News

Following the outbreak of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in February 2022, many European countries have seen a significant increase in the number of Ukrainian citizens fleeing the war in search of a safer and more dignified future. Arriving in a new country often means needing to secure stable employment that can provide both personal and family security.

In Europe, the majority of those who migrated have been women. However, integration into unfamiliar environments and limited knowledge of the local language have frequently led to these women being confined to the care sector, regardless of their qualifications or educational background.

SHE–UNET aims to support the integration of Ukrainian women into the labor market in three EU countries: Italy, the Netherlands, and Sweden. During the first meeting of the organisations involved, we planned the next activities, which involve professionals in the field of migration with the aim of strengthening the skills in providing support and fostering labor inclusion.

Currently, the partnership is conducting research to identify the training needs and daily challenges faced by professionals working in the migration sector, as well as by Ukrainian women receiving assistance and resettlement support. Through questionnaires and interviews, valuable insights are being gathered to create an overview of the current situation in these countries and to develop training programs that can enhance the capacity and effectiveness of organizations working in this field.

In October, five participants from each country will be selected to take part in a unique educational experience in Sweden. There, they will have the opportunity to connect with peers from other organizations, exchange ideas on shared challenges, and acquire new tools and knowledge to strengthen their organizations’ leadership and advocacy capabilities.

The goal is to build a network of organizations equipped to support Ukrainian women in their job search and overall inclusion journey.

We will soon publish the training dates and all the information you need to participate. If you are a trainer, facilitator, or social worker and believe your organization could benefit from this program, follow the Centre’s channels to stay up to date with the latest news on the project!

SHE-UNET – Ukrainian Women’s Empowerment and Social Hub Network is financed by European Social Fund+ Social Innovation+, Initiative aiming at mitigating the societal consequences caused by Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.
