Compared to urban areas, rural areas continue to face greater isolation, particularly when it comes to access to digital technology and related tools.
The distance from infrastructure, as well as from educational and professional opportunities, contributes to creating a divide that is not only technological, but also social and cultural.
It is against this backdrop that the Our Digital Village initiative has emerged, promoting the dissemination of digital practices and skills in various peripheral areas of the European Union, helping to make these regions increasingly connected and involved in the transformations taking place.
Over the past few months, numerous events have been held in the participating countries – Italy, Austria, Greece, Poland, Cyprus, Romania, Portugal, Spain and Belgium – designed to foster opportunities for discussion and knowledge-sharing: these have been valuable occasions not only to share materials, experiences and outcomes developed throughout the project, but also to foster dialogue between people from different backgrounds, united by a shared interest in digital innovation. In particular, in Brussels, guests and experts gathered to discuss and exchange views on the future of digital technology, offering those present an insight into constantly evolving practices and possibilities.

Through this digital space, users can explore a comprehensive range of resources designed to support teachers and trainers in integrating technology into their educational contexts. The materials available include:
- The RMA Handbook on the Dolcian method and the self-analysis approach;
- 8 scientific articles containing the results of the workshop cycles carried out in the various countries involved;
- ODV Activity Kit: an online resource structured around 50 ICT challenges – including robotics, coding, 3D printing, microcontrollers and web development – accompanied by teaching guides for teaching staff and educators.
Furthermore, to complete the sharing process, the third newsletter has also been made available, downloadable from the official website, which brings together updates, in-depth analysis and a look at the most recent activities.
For those working in the field of education — such as teaching staff or trainers — the platform represents a concrete opportunity to explore methodologies, tools and technologies to integrate into daily practice.

OUR DIGITAL VILLAGE – CO-DESIGNED DIGITAL EDUCATION IN RURAL AREAS is a project financed by the Erasmus + program (Key Action 2: Forward-Looking Projects) and aims to promote a process of community self-analysis in rural areas through Reciprocal Maieutic Approach, to identify the needs of the rural contexts and co-create educational materials for the strengthening of digital and transversal skills.
