The first meeting of MeTURA – “Family education“ Back to the Roots ”, therapeutic family gardening and therapeutic family cooking for independent life of adult family members with intellectual disabilities (AFMID)” project was held in Dusa Rega, Croatia, on 16 and 17 May 2019 – The project is funded by the Education and Culture DG – Erasmus + program, KA2 Strategic partnerships in adult education.
The project involves five partners from four different countries: Educational Geoss Center (coordinator, Slovenia), Zveza Sozitje (Slovenia), Center for Creative Development “Danilo Dolci” (Italy), Thrive (United Kingdom), UOSIKAZU (Croatia).
The project will develop an individualized and innovative learning methodology and will provide opportunities for the development of basic knowledge, personal and social skills of families and AFMID for their greater autonomy and less dependence from institutions.
The partners met in Duga Resa near Karlovac (Croatia) for the project kick-off meeting to discuss the first results achieved with the IO1 and the IO3. The kick-off meeting was also an opportunity to get to know each other better since for some partners it was the first time they met all together. The IO1 provides a study of lifelong learning opportunities for families and their family members with intellectual disabilities with the aim of bringing the lifelong learning offer to their home. The IO3 provides a study of the motivational support methods of educators for effective social activation of families and their adult relatives with intellectual disorders.
