SDGfP: An Innovative Education for a More Sustainable World

Mar 12, 2025News

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Today, more than ever, Nelson Mandela’s words resonate strongly. In a global context marked by increasingly complex challenges, education plays a key role in shaping a fair, peaceful, and sustainable society.

SDGfP, promoted by the Centre for Creative Development Danilo Dolci – ETS, has been designed to equip students with essential skills to tackle 21st-century challenges such as the evolution of the global economy, unemployment, migration flows, climate change, and the urgent need for effective environmental governance. At the same time, the project aims to support teachers in developing digital skills, helping them integrate global education into school curricula through innovative methodologies and practical tools.

This initiative is not limited to students and teachers but seeks to involve the entire community, fostering collective growth and promoting equity, well-being, and social inclusion across Europe and beyond.

What have we achieved?

  • Development of an interactive and accessible online platform: A digital platform has been created, offering a variety of educational materials – presentations, quizzes, and gamified challenges – for each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically designed for students aged 10 to 14. The gamification approach makes learning more engaging and effective, providing teachers with practical digital tools that can be easily integrated into their daily teaching practices.

  • Creation of a digital training course for teachers: A dedicated training programme has been developed to enhance teachers’ digital skills and improve the quality of distance learning. The course provides concrete strategies and innovative technological tools, enabling educators to integrate new technologies into their curricula and make education more modern, inclusive, and accessible to all.

We have also implemented non-formal education activities in schools across the province of Palermo, using educational games to help children and young people aged 10 to 14 understand the goals of the 2030 Agenda in a fun and interactive way. Through playful methodologies, students have been able to explore crucial topics such as sustainability, social justice, and climate change, fostering greater awareness and a sense of responsibility towards the future of the planet. We also presented the Digital Skills Course for Techers to different schools to help teachers, school leaders and teaching professions that work with pupils directly to improve their digital skills for distance learning and supported schools’ ability to provide remote education.

SDGfP represents a tangible step towards a more inclusive and sustainable education system, empowering future generations to become responsible global citizens. Read more about the project, visit https://sdgs4pupils.eu/ and follow us on Facebook and X.
