Be Inclusive! – Newsletter #1

How can we improve the participation of people with disabilities in the labor market?
A key aspect is ensuring that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are willing and able to hire people with disabilities. However, many SMEs report a lack of skills and resources to address this challenge. Prejudices and stereotypes often hinder the recruitment process and emerge in crucial areas such as accessibility, teamwork, work organization, labor law, task design, and skills development, making it difficult to retain employees with special needs in the medium and long term.

To bridge these gaps, the Be Inclusive! project has developed a series of educational videos in microlearning format, designed to support SMEs in integrating people with disabilities.

In the project’s first newsletter, the details of the initial result were shared: a national-level study on the employment of people with disabilities and best practices for workplace inclusion. The outcome of this work is the informational brochure “People with Disabilities in the Labor Market: Integration, Inclusion, and Sustainable Employment in SMEs”, available on the project website in English, German, Latvian, Greek, Slovenian, and Italian.

Currently, the project partners are finalizing modular learning videos for SMEs, providing concrete suggestions and practical advice to support an inclusive and sustainable integration process.
