This year, also the Centre for Creative Development “Danilo Dolci” (CSC) had joined measure 5 within Youth Guarantee, the European Programme addressed to young people between 15 and 29 years of age who are neither in education nor in employment, which allowed to fund extra-curricular job placements aimed at easing orientation, access or reinsertion in the labour market for young people who applied for the programme within the provided deadline.
From the 4th to the 6th of September 2015 the international event of the SlowMed project – Food as means of dialogue in Mediterranean context – filled the town of Tavira, in southern Portugal, of scents, flavors, smiles and reflections. The event, hosted within the III Fair of the Mediterranean Diet, was attended by hundreds of local producers. It gave a chance to about 90 participants from the two shores of the Mediterranean Sea to meet and share in the theory and practice the great intangible heritage of the Mediterranean Diet.
The first meeting of the European informal network coordinated by CSC with members from Spain, Norway, Germany and England took place on Sept. 10, 2015 in Palermo at the headquarters of the Centre for Creative Development “Danilo Dolci”. The meeting – the first in a long series of meetings with several European partners of the informal network (46 organizations from 21 countries) – was useful to discuss the procedures, tools and benefits to members related to this extensive European network.

52 years ago, on the 27th February 1963, after tens of mobilisations by Danilo Dolci and his collaborators, the building works of a dam on the Jato River began. Together with the Democratic Consortium who managed water, it became one of the symbols of the fighting for rights and justice in western Sicily.
